PhD Opportunities - University of Sydney

Two highly motivated post-graduate students (PhD or Masters) are sought to work on a project that will evaluate the safety and efficacy of fans as a sustainable strategy to improve sleep quality in hot overnight environments. The project is funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC).

The majority of the research will involve overnight laboratory-based data collection using simulated thermal environments in the state-of-the-art climatic chamber situated at the Susan Wakil Health Building at the University of Sydney. The candidate will also have opportunities to work on other projects within the Heat and Health Research Incubator, and will be supervised by Dr Yorgi Mavros, Dr Elizabeth Machan and Professor Ollie Jay. Individuals with a background in thermal physiology, sleep or nursing are encouraged to enquire.

Successful applicants who obtain a RTP scholarship will be offered a top-up, and there are opportunities for paid Research Assistant positions within the laboratory.

For further information or to apply, please contact Yorgi Mavros - [email protected].
