Fisher & Paykel Sleep Research Travel Award

A grant of $5000 supported by Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, will be awarded to an early or mid-career researcher from Australia or New Zealand to support travel and accommodation costs that will further that researcher's field of study, or showcase the researcher's sleep research to a scientific audience.

To be eligible, applicants must be a member of ASA, and have completed their doctoral or equivalent qualification no more than 10 years before the award's application closing date.

The ASA Research Committee will decide the award winner based on the following criteria:

  • The size and quality of the applicant's scientific contribution to date (relative to opportunity)
  • The importance of the travel for the advancement of sleep science
  • The value of the travel for enhancing the researcher's career
  • The likelihood of the travel being funded through another source.

The award winner will have a maximum of three years to complete the proposed travel, and provide a report back to the ASA on what was achieved.

Applications
Applications must include the following:.

  • A statement of claim - a brief description of what the grant would be used for, including a statement on the impact of this activity on sleep science, and how the travel will enhance the applicant's career
  • A declaration as to whether or not other funds are available to support the proposed travel
  • A budget for the proposed travel
  • A brief CV (you must use the CV template provided. Download )

The award winner will be announced at the gala dinner during Sleep DownUnder 2022, the ASA's annual scientific meeting.
