Health sector joins the call for a Yes vote 

The Australasian Sleep Association has joined a group or more than 100 health and medical organisations to support the value of a Yes vote in the upcoming referendum.

Distinguished Achievement Award 

Nominations for the 2023  distinguished achievement award are now open.

This award is designed to recognise, and honor exceptional achievements in the fields of sleep health and sleep science by ASA members. It will be awarded to an individual member who has either made:

  • a high impact, highly original and important contribution, or 
  • ongoing sustained, and significant contributions to the fields of sleep health and sleep science in Australasia and internationally. 

These achievements may include, but are not limited to, research, education, policy development.


If you wish to nominate an ASA member for the award, please complete the nomination form and email it to: [email protected]. Nominations close Friday 13 October 2023.

This award will be presented at Sleep DownUnder.

Nominations for the NEST Mentor Award close this Friday! 

The Network of Early career Sleep researchers in Training (NEST) Mentor Award will be awarded to an individual ASA member who has demonstrated excellence in the mentoring of students and early career researchers. Mentoring excellence may be evidenced by:

  • The extent and range of their mentoring
  • The positive outcomes for their mentees
  • Their respect and support for mentees
  • Their support for mentee’s career development
  • Their broader contribution to the promotion of students and early career researchers within the ASA.

Nominations for this award are made by current or former mentee(s). Nominations by an individual mentee or group of mentees are welcome.

Nominations will close this Friday 29 September 2023. Please submit your nominations via the link below. The winner will be announced at the annual scientific conference - Sleep DownUnder 2023 in Adelaide 8-11 November.

Sleep DownUnder 2023 social functions 

Only 6 weeks until the annual Sleep DownUnder 2023, there are some exciting social events surrounding the conference.

Welcome to Sleep DownUnder Function
Welcome drinks will take place on Wednesday 8 November at the Adelaide Convention Centre in the Exhibition Hall from 6pm-8pm.

Annual Sleep DownUnder Fun Run/Walk
The Annual Sleep DownUnder Fun Run will be taking place at the Adelaide Convention Centre, 7am Thursday 9 November. Offering three distances, 3 km, 6 km and 9 km. All will start and finish on the riverbank outside the conference centre and people can walk or run one, two of three laps up and down the Torrens River. 
There will be medals for the first three men and women in each of the three events.

Breakfast will be provided. Each participant will get a running t-shirt/singlet. Not only is entry free, but Compumedics will donate ten dollars to the Rob Pierce Fund for each participant.

Annual Gala Dinner
