Sleep labs wanted!

Late last year, the ASA launched its first every Fellowship of Dental Sleep Medicine.  This program will certify dentists with specific skills and knowledge of dental sleep medicine as Fellows of Dental Sleep Medicine. This will help both referring sleep physicians and potential patients to identify suitably qualified dentists when seeking oral appliance therapy for sleep disturbances.

As part of obtaining the fellowship, dentists are required to have one overnight sleep laboratory observation session to ensure they have a good understanding of sleep diagnostics.  We are looking for sleep labs in all states and territories that are willing to host the candidates. You can nominate how often you’re willing to host candidates, and the ASA will coordinate to have a maximum of two candidates attend at a time and frequency that suits you. If your lab is able to help out, please email the FDSM program manager, Dr Dinukshi Daniels

Bench-side to bedside: translational science success stories from respiratory and sleep physicians
This webinar is aimed to inspire and disseminate understanding the importance of translational research in respiratory and sleep clinical practice. Translational science is the step away from treatment reaching to patients. In this webinar speakers will demonstrate their own translational examples in practice where bench-side has come to the rescue in critical bed-side patients. It will also act as ground for inspiration to young physicians (or ECRs) who feel they are confined to one side of the coin, and think it is hard to trek the course of both practice and research. On the contrary, speakers will showcase having conquered both sides of the coin.
