CSF orexin testing now available 

Testing of CSF orexin is now available for Australian patients through Sonic Healthcare.

Testing is done at Oxford (UK), with samples being centrally collated, prepared and shipped by Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology at Wesley Hospital, Brisbane.

 
 

Sleep Health Foundation Emerging Sleep Hero Award

The Emerging Sleep Hero Award is an initiative of the Sleep Health Foundation (SHF).  A total of five finalists will present their research during a one-hour, online event to be held from 6.00pm-7.00pm (AEST) on Thursday, September 29, 2022.

The SHF is pleased to hold an event that focuses on the future leaders in the field of sleep. It will be a fun, relaxed, informal event and a forum in which we can continue to inform the local sleep community of our mission and objectives.

  • Bench-side to bedside translational science success stories from respiratory and sleep physicians
    Translational science is the step away from treatment reaching to patients. In this webinar recording speakers demonstrate their own translational examples in practice where bench-side has come to the rescue in critical bed-side patients.

    There have been many new developments in the field of sleep and memory recently with new mechanisms proposed. This webinar recording explores two of the more promising approaches to investigating the formation and consolidation of memories during sleep from a practical standpoint

Sleep in individuals with traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury

Sleep is especially impaired in individuals who have a Traumatic Brain Injury or Spinal Cord Injury. However, sleep disorders in both groups are under-recognized, underdiagnosed, and untreated for a substantial majority of patients. This webinar aims to drive an increase in awareness and improve sleep disorder management in these patient populations.

AADSM Intro to Oral Appliances for Sleep Apnea

Register today for the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine’s (AADSM) Intro to Oral Appliances for Sleep Apnea: A Global Course. This live, virtual course will be held 9 -10 December 2022. An expert faculty will present 8 hours of introductory best practices for successfully helping patients with obstructive sleep apnea.
