The ASA Board has approved a new policy that sets out how the association responds to requests for expert opinion about Medicare billing, products and services. Read the Endorsements and requests for expert opinion policy.

The ASA is seeking expressions of interest from members interested in joining the Education Committee in the role of Deputy Chair. This role would suit a volunteer interested in potentially moving into a Board role or in chairing an ASA committee in the future.

New Directions for actigraphy: What are the options for the sleep field  
25 July 2023, 6pm EST
This online forum aims to facilitate national consultation on the new directors of actigraphy technologies and establish a collaborative approach to alternative methodologies. The Forum will consider multiple populations and contexts for which activity based monitoring of sleep-wake behaviour is important, including adolescence, healthy adults, insomnia, shift work and general research compliance.

 



CEO roundtable in Canberra

Join your local colleagues and the ASA’s CEO for an after-work roundtable discussion on all things sleep plus a roundup of the latest research on co-morbid insomnia and OSA (COMISA). The ASA’s CEO, Marcia Balzer, invites everyone working in the sleep field in the Canberra region to an after-work roundtable and networking event. You’ll have a chance to catch up with local colleagues, hear the latest from ASA and update the CEO on local sleep news. The ASA’s Commonwealth grant program manager, Dr Alexander Sweetman, will also give a short presentation on the latest research on co-morbid insomnia and OSA (COMISA).

Introduction to Dental Sleep Medicine Workshop
23rd September 2023 

This one-day workshop is being held the day before the FDI Congress commences in Sydney. This course is designed for dentists or other oral health professionals who are new to dental sleep medicine or for more experienced dentists who wish to refresh their knowledge before undertaking the Fellow of Dental Sleep Medicine.
When:  Saturday 23 September 2023, 8:30am - 5:00pm 
Where: Meeting Room C4.8 (Level 4), International Convention Centre Sydney
Cost:     $765 (including GST) - Registration fees include full day of intensive, interactive instruction in DSM, as well as morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.




Sleep DownUnder Adelaide
8-11 November 2023 

Come to Adelaide for the 34th annual scientific meeting of Australasian Sleep Association (ASA) & Australian and New Zealand Sleep Science Association (ANZSSA Wednesday 8 November will feature a selection of short courses - intensive in-person learning at the Adelaide Convention Centre. Thursday 9 November to Saturday 11 November is the three-day conference finishing with a gala dinner on Saturday night.

You can register now to attend Sleep DownUnder as a delegate, with early bird prices due to end on 7 August 2023. Registration prices remain the same as 2022 for the full in-person format and a massive five concurrent streams!

Last year’s Sleep DownUnder sessions now available in the Learning Centre 

Sessions recorded at Sleep DownUnder 2022 are now available for purchase from the ASA Learning Centre as on-demand learning packages. 

Sessions have been grouped into topics, offering multiple sessions for a low price to members. Session presenters can access complimentary enrolment for the package their session is in by contacting Cassie Real. People who aren’t yet ASA members can also access these on-demand resource at non-member prices providing they have or create an account on the ASA website. All packages have CPD points attached that you’ll receive automatically when you finish viewing them.
