New government lobbying and other advocacy news

The ASA has been working in partnership with the Sleep Health Foundation over the last few months to communicate the importance of sleep health to members of the 47th Parliament. 

A key feature of these conversations with senators and MPs has been the Parliamentary Inquiry into Sleep Health Awareness in Australia.

NHMRC Research Translation insomnia presentation

The NHMRC’s Research Translation long-weekend 2022
  in mid-November showcased the diversity of health research translation and implementation programs in Australia. I was invited to speak in a plenary session “Getting best practice into practice”, to describe the ongoing program to improve access to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) in Australia.

 

 
 


Mark Howard recognition

ASA congratulates Mark Howard who has been recognised as Australia's top researcher in the field of epidemiology. This was based on the number of citations for papers published in the top 20 journals in each field over the past five years.

 

 
 


New Conference Chair needed

The ASA is looking for a new Conference Chair due to the recent resignation of Andrew Gikas who has been appointed as an Executive Councillor of the Australian Dental Association.
