Changes have been made to the method for requesting an initial PBS authority application for modafinil and armodafinil for narcolepsy without cataplexy from 1 August 2024. Providers are now able to submit the application and the relevant supporting information digitally using the Online PBS Authorities system. The application still needs to be assessed, so approval will not be available instantly, but will be sent to the provider’s Health Professional Online Service (HPOS) mailbox. An application can still be made in writing and either uploaded into HPOS or sent by mail. Hopefully access to the new online application process will reduce some of the administrative burden associated with modafinil and armodafinil initial PBS applications. For more information, please read the information sheet provided by Services Australia.
