23 October 2025
If you missed the fantastic scientific program at Sleep DownUnder 2025 in Adelaide, selected sessions are now available on demand in the ASA Learning Centre. There's a range of topics included in the collection, including the very popular NIV short course.
Registered delegates of Sleep DownUnder 2025 have been emailed a discount code that allows them to enrol in on-demand sessions for free. For everyone else, each conference session costs $30 for ASA members and $60 for others. The NIV short course costs $150 for ASA members and $300 for others. CPD points and certificates are awarded automatically when you complete the activity.
Plenary sessions
- The who, when, why and how of OSA treatment – a deep dive into the evidence features international speaker Dr Sanjay Patel providing an in-depth survey of the latest evidence and concepts of OSA management.
- Neuroscience of memory consolidation during sleep in health and disease offers international speaker Professor Yuval Nir providing an extensive survey of the current science around memory consolidation during sleep.
- The New Investigator Award presentations session features the six finalists showcasing their original research findings: Sarahmarie Kuroko, Ajay Kevat, Caroline Faucher, Anna Ridgers, Courtney Jarratt and Nicole Stuart.
- Sleep wake instability - arousal systems and clinical perspectives presents the latest knowledge and understanding about the brain systems and the neurophysiological mechanisms that regulate sleep-wake states, the systems responsible for arousal and awakenings from sleep, and how these mechanisms may explain features of clinical disorders of arousal.
- The impact of sleep on balance, falls and frailty explores the pivotal function of sleep in disorders associated with ageing, including frailty, balance, and falls.
Short course
The short course Chronic non-invasive ventilation in adults and paediatrics (6 CPD points) outlines the concepts related to using non-invasive ventilation modalities in adult and paediatric populations. It covers basic concepts including important safety considerations, to initiating treatment and appropriate ongoing treatment efficacy monitoring, and finally to managing issues and titration quandaries. It covers both adult and paediatric patient populations and costs $150 for ASA members.
Clinical stream
Paediatric
- Sleep and brain development in early childhood - what do we know and what more could we know? combines the expertise of multiple clinical and academic disciplines within paediatric sleep medicine to highlight current knowledge gaps around childhood sleep development. It demonstrates how it may be possible to combine data from parent report, existing physiological markers measured during sleep and novel technology to assist in defining the spectrum of “normal” and “abnormal” sleep development during childhood and discusses the potential clinical significance.
