NEST Mentor Award

Applications for this award are now open. Submission close Tuesday 30 June 2026.

This award recognises and honors an exceptional mentor in the fields of sleep health and sleep science.

It is awarded to an individual ASA member who has demonstrated excellence in the mentoring of students and early career researchers. Aspects to consider (based on previous successful applications):

  • Number of students/ECRs supervised and mentored
  • Description of their supervision/mentoring style
  • Examples of how they have fostered growth in their mentee/students or supported ECRs more broadly
  • Their respect and support for mentees
  • Impact of supervision (e.g., what students have gone on to do, changes to policy, personal impacts on students)
  • Contributions over and above those expected of a PhD supervisor
  • Their broader contribution to the promotion of students and early career researchers within the ASA.

Nominations for this award are made by current or former mentee(s). Nominations by an individual mentee or group of mentees are welcome.

Nominations should be for a single mentor: a single nomination for multiple mentors will not be considered.

This award is presented by the Australasian Sleep Association at its annual scientific meeting.

Eligibility criteria:

  1. The mentor must be a member of the ASA and work in fields of sleep health and sleep science.
  2. Award winners will not be eligible for re-nomination.

Submission close Tuesday 30 June 2026.
