Advanced Training Positions in Sleep Medicine
Applications are invited for suitably qualified medical practitioners for RACP Advanced Training in Sleep Medicine at the Adelaide Institute for Sleep Medicine, South Australia, commencing in January 2011
Two training streams are available.
A. Full-time 12 month clinical sleep training.
B. A 3-year combined PhD/ Sleep Medicine Advanced training program. This program is suitable for highly motivated individuals considering a career in academic clinical medicine. AISH will provide a generous clinical loading during the course of research training.
The Adelaide Institute for Sleep Health is an Australasian Sleep Association accredited tertiary academic sleep laboratory. We have six clinical PSG beds plus one research bed in our main laboratory and as well as satellite services at Ashford Private Hospital and in Darwin, Northern Territory.
The Adelaide Institute for Sleep Health offers a unique clinical training opportunity with multidisciplinary services provided by sleep physicians, psychologists, a psychiatrist, ENT surgeons, dentist, sleep technicians, sleep scientists and specialist sleep nurses. Trainees will have a broad mix of sleep medicine exposure including psychology insomnia clinics, multidisciplinary sleep medicine service and acute and chronic non-invasive ventilation services. AISH also has a strong national and international reputation for clinical research and post-graduate research training. Opportunities for research training exist in the following areas: upper airway physiology/ respiratory control; health service delivery; and clinical trials, including the international investigator-initiated randomised controlled trial, SAVE.
The Repatriation General Hospital is part of the Adelaide Health Service and is affiliated with Flinders Medical Centre and Flinders University. It is a 280 bed hospital with a mix of General and Specialty medicine.
